Though the 2022-23 season is about to get underway, the 2021-22 Dukes team continues to make the news as forward Ethan Quick has committed to the Ottawa 67’s on the Ontario Hockey League for the upcoming season.
The 2005 born forward, from Trenton, Ontario joined the Dukes last season after a stand out 2019-20 season with the Quinte Red Devils U15 team where Quick posted 55 points (25 goals, 30 assists) in just 38 games. Quick’s impressive season led to him being selected by the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL Priority Draft in the 4th round, 64th overall.
Having missed out on the entire 2020-21 season because of Covid-19 Quick joined the Dukes as a 16 year old an immediately made an impact with Wellington. Quick had a very impressive season as a 16 year old rookie putting up 26 points (9 goals, 17 assists) in 52 games! His combination of size and skill made Quick one of the better 16 year olds the Dukes have seen in recent memory; something that Dukes Head Coach/GM Derek Smith made note of when reached for comment. “Quicky had a great 16 year old year for us in Wellington! His 26 points were the highest total for a 16 year old for the Dukes in quite a few years. We are excited to see Ethan continue his hockey journey in the OHL for the 67’s!”
Quick noted that a big part of his success with the Dukes was due to the coaching staff and teammates he had in Wellington last season. “I’m fortunate for my opportunity in Ottawa. I want to thank my coaches and teammates in Wellington for preparing me for the next step in my career.”
