The Duke of Wellington is heading to Waterloo. The Wellington Dukes are excited to announce that Captain Cory Jewitt has announced his commitment to the University of Waterloo Warriors of USports for next season.

The 20 year old forward from Clinton, Ontario has been an offensive catalyst for the Dukes in his two seasons in Wellington. Through 110 regular season games, Jewitt has put up 135 points (56G,79A) and added 9 points (2G,7A) in 5 playoff games last season. Prior to the start of this season, Jewitt was named team Captain. Dukes GM/Head Coach Kent Lewis spoke very highly of Jewitt when reached for comment on his commitment to Waterloo. “We are so happy for Cory on his commitment. He’s been absolutely pivotal in the last two years leading this club on and off the ice. He’s a great student, a great leader and obviously his on-ice performance speaks for itself. He’s going to a great program where he will continue to have success on the ice which will lead to a great future away from the rink as well.”

Jewitt, who is looking forward to another playoff run with the Dukes, noted that in addition to a great hockey program at the University of Waterloo, he was also looking forward to furthering his education. “I’m very excited about my commitment to the University of Waterloo and grateful for the opportunity. It is a great school with an excellent hockey program where I look forward to furthering my education and hockey career. I want to thank my coaches, teammates, and mentors for their support in helping me achieve this goal. I look forward to next season, working with the coaching staff at Waterloo, and meeting the team.”

With his commitment secured, Jewitt can focus on the upcoming Buckland Cup Playoffs. “I’m looking forward to playoffs as I believe we have a group that can do something special this year.  It’s been a great season and I’m looking forward to starting the post season!”
