The Wellington Dukes travelled to Oakville today to take part in the OJHL Showcase Games and managed to blank the first place North Division Newmarket Hurricanes 6 to 0 and move into a tie for first place in the East Division with their fifth win in a row. The shutout was the second consecutive for the Dukes as they have not allowed a goal in their last 140 minutes and 43 seconds of play.
Cody Gratton was named first star of the game with two goals and a pair of assists while Steven Deeg was given 2nd star honours with a three point game including two goals. Mike Soucier and Spencer Turcotte with the game winner were the other goal scorers while Kyle Paat had a pair of assists with other helpers going to Jacob Hetherington, Trevor Cope, Parker Wood, Jacob Panetta and Erick Delaurentis. Lucas Machalski was named 3rd star of the game as he picked up his first Junior A shutout stopping all 38 shots.
It will be a short turn-around for the Dukes as they will be in Cobourg Monday to take on the Cougars with a 7:00 PM puck drop.
