Dukes Brad Barker Commits to Liberty University

The Wellington Dukes are excited to announce another college commitment from the 2023-24 team as it was announced that Brad Barker has committed to Liberty University for the upcoming season.

Liberty University is a Division I ACHA program located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Barker was acquired at the trade deadline in a deal with the Toronto Patriots to bring size, physicality and character to a Dukes team that was looking to make a lengthy playoff run. In 15 regular season games with the Dukes, the 19 year old notched 8 points (2G,6A) and added 1 goal in 5 playoff games.

Dukes Head Coach/Director of Hockey Ops Kent Lewis was very happy to learn of Barker’s committment to Liberty. “Brad was a great addition at the deadline. His character was largely felt in the room and his play on the ice. Brad also was great working with kids in our programs. We are very happy about this announcement and he is going to a school that allows for him to follow his academics and athletics aspirations in an environment that he will flourish.”

Barker will forgo his overage season to join the Flames, he noted that he was very excited to play for Liberty University. “I am excited to announce my commitment to play for Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia this fall.

I am thankful for the opportunity I had to play for Wellington this season. It is an amazing organization and I loved being apart of this great team.

Barker becomes the 4th member of the 2023-24 Dukes team to earn a college commitment. The entire organization is proud of Brad’s commitment and wish him all the best at Liberty University.
