A Wellington Dukes forward has secured a commitment for his future in hockey.
18-year-old Matheson Mason made his verbal commitment to play at NCAA Division 1 Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
Mason has posted 15 points in 14 games since joining the Dukes in an October trade from the Aurora Tigers, and has 32 points in 28 games combined between Wellington and Aurora.
The Newmarket native came off a silver-medal winning performance with Team Canada East at the World Junior A Challenge in Cornwall last month.
The school is the alma mater of Dukes head coach/GM Derek Smith.
