The Wellington Dukes couldn’t stop a runaway train on Thursday night.
For the 13th game in a row, the Toronto Jr. Canadiens came away with two points in a 5-2 victory at Lehigh Arena.
Toronto did most of its damage in a three-goal second period, breaking open a 1-0 lead staked by Nathan Phillips in the first by getting markers from Brady Wassink, Gabriel Ciarallo and Lucas Teixeira.
Jayden Levesque scored on a powerplay at 8:40 of the middle frame, zinging a shot through Jr. Canadiens goalie Amir Valiullin’s pads for his 14th of the season after Sacha Trudel laid a thunderous check and earned an assist by centering the puck out to Levesque.
Ethan Murray took a Levesque feed and roofed his 18th of the year upstairs on Valiullin to cut the gap again midway through the third, but the comeback effort would come up short.
Jacob Crisp finished the win with an empty-netter to lock down yet another victory for the Jr. Canadiens.
Jacob Brown made 38 saves, working around a brief stint where he had to leave after getting hit up high with a shot.
Toronto outshot 42-21 to send the Dukes to a 26-13-0-2 record.
Wellington turns around to play the North York Rangers at 7:30 p.m. Friday night.
