One goal was all the Wellington Dukes would need to take home two points from the Kawartha Lakes on Friday night.

Nick DiPaolo sunk home the Dukes only goal in double overtime for a rare 1-0 victory over the Lindsay Muskies.

DiPaolo’s second winning goal in overtime and third overall, as well as his eighth in total, came off a broken-down play off a rush in three-on-three action, hitting the post before getting a pass out to beat Belleville native Ethan Fraser under the blocker.

Logan Sitlani and Zander Latreille assisted on the lone goal.

The play of both Fraser and Wellington’s Jack Lisson was the story through 65-plus minutes of hockey, neither budging an inch in a back-and-forth contest.

Lisson earned his third shutout of the year with 30 stops, while Fraser shielded 39 of 40 shots and went right down to the end.

Wellington improves its record to 26-15-0-2 with its third straight win, helping to stay in second in the OJHL’s East Conference.

The Dukes return to Lehigh Arena for another key conference matchup with the fourth place Cobourg Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
