The Wellington Dukes avoided a fall in Mississauga, grinding out a 4-3 overtime win thanks to the sublime play of their top-scoring rookie.

Ethan Murray scored two more goals, including the overtime winner, to give the Dukes the victory over the Chargers.

After Nick Ellis struck first for Mississauga, Murray tied the score by ripping a drop pass from Zack Carrier for his 13th of the year, extending his team-best goal streak to six games.

Wellington tried its best to break the game open in the second with a pair of tallies from Ryan Castle (second of the season) and Ben Vreugdenhil (12th) to grab a lead, but the pesky Chargers stuck close and managed to claw back.

Wyatt Jinman buried an early marker just over a minute into the third, and then the Chargers got another break on a powerplay when Mason Kim squeezed one through Dario Cantini to even the count and force overtime.

Murray came through at the 2:47 mark of the extra period by taking the puck from the defensive zone out of a chance by the Chargers and flying all the way down the left wing, finishing with a wrister short-side on Hayden Sabourin to send the Dukes home with two more points in the bank.

Zander Latreille added two assists and got involved in a second fight in as many nights with Anthony Figliomeni of Mississauga.

Vreugdenhil, Zack Carrier, Ryan Schaap, Jared McNeil, Sacha Trudel and Colin Smith added the other assists.

Cantini finished with 32 saves as Wellington outshot Mississauga 41-35.

Wellington heads home to play the Niagara Falls Canucks on a quick turnaround at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
