The Wellington Dukes produced a hard-fought effort against the number one team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, but came out on the losing end.

Noah Pak registered his league-best 12th shutout of the season for the Collingwood Blues in a 5-0 whitewashing of the Dukes on Monday afternoon.

The host Blues came out flying with a pair of first period goals courtesy of Dylan Hudon and Spencer Young to take full control right off the bat.

Wellington played tough as the game got chippy in the second, holding them off until the 12:04 mark when Damen Boose pounced on a rebound to add on some more insurance.

Daniel Markevych and Mark McIntosh put the game further out of Wellington’s reach with Collingwood’s second and third powerplay markers of the season.

The Dukes mustered 32 shots, but were blanked for just the second time this season. Shane Shelest made 32 stops in Wellington’s 18th regulation loss of the year.

They’ll try to put that game behind them on Friday when they start a home and home set with the Lindsay Muskies.
