DUKES EDGE ST. MIKES 2 to 1 IN OVERTIME

The first place East Division Wellington Dukes edged the first place South Division St. Michaels Buzzers 2 to 1 in overtime.  No scoring until the second period when Mike Soucier got the home team on the board with assists going to Cody Gratton and Spencer Turcotte.  St. Michaels tied the game up in the third period to send the game to overtime.  It looked like the teams were heading for a shootout when, with less than a minute to go, Erick Delaurentis picked up a loose puck and, using a St. Mikes defenseman as a screen, fired home the game winner.

Adam Wood was solid in net facing 30 shots.  Joe McKeown was named 1st Star of the game for helping to shut down the Buzzers top line.  Delaurentis was named 2nd Star.  Abbott Girduckis was named the Hardest Working Player of the Game while Austin Broadhurst was named Defensive Player of the Game.

The Dukes will now be off for a week after playing 9 of their first 14 games on the road.  They will be putting their perfect 5 and 0 home record on the line next Friday as they host the Buffalo Jr. Sabres with a 7:30 PM puck drop.
