Do you have what it takes to be a Junior A hockey player in the OJHL? If so, we would like to hear from you.

The Wellington Dukes are one of the most storied and well-known franchises in Canadian Junior ‘A’ Hockey. In recent history alone, the Dukes were runners-up at the 2018 Royal Bank Cup (RBC) National Championship, Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) league runners-up in 2019, and completed the 2019-20 season with their second-best regular season record in franchise history. During the 2021-2022 season we ended up 1st in our division.

Perhaps even more impressive is the Duke’s’ record for moving players on to the next level, whether that be NCAA Division I, Division III, USports, or the CHL. Over the past few seasons alone, the Dukes have moved players on to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Merrimack College, Quinnipiac University, Colgate University, and more during the last 4 years click here. Further, the Dukes have had a handful of players drafted into the NHL in recent years, such as Zach Uens (Florida Panthers, 2020) and Ben Roger (Ottawa Senators, 2021). If you’re looking for somewhere to play that will get you to where you want to go, it’s clear that Wellington is the place to be.

The Dukes play out of Lehigh Arena (also known locally as the Duke Dome) in Wellington, Ontario. Lehigh Arena usually sees about 500-600 fans per game during the regular season with an increase to over 1,000 per game during the playoffs. Our facility has over 2000 square feet of dressing room, workout area, players mini gym in the upper level & office space. All of our games are broadcast on HockeyTV, some games on YourTV Cogeco & our away games on radio courtesy of 99.3 County FM and Craig Foster the Voice of the Dukes.

Academic institutions in the area include Prince Edward Collegiate Institute located in Picton, numerous Public & Separate High Schools in Belleville, along with Loyalist College of Applied Arts & Technology also located in Belleville.

In Wellington, expectations are high and our quest for championships is a yearly challenge. The taste of success over the years and the excitement brought about by the thrilling playoff runs has made the entire organization and community at large, even more dedicated to maintaining our status as an elite hockey program and to building another championship team for the 2023-2024 season
