Former Wellington Duke Derek Smith has re-signed with the NHL Calgary Flames to a US$1.55-million, two-year contract.

Currently sidelined with a high ankle sprain the defenseman signed as a free agent with the Flames on July 13, 2011 after playing with the Ottawa Senators.
